About our sealed garri

Garri is made from fermented, grated and roasted cassava. It is eaten soaked in cold water as a drink, or stirred into hot water to make eba, which is served with soups and stews. Lewis Eze & Sons offers packaged, sealed garri for households, shops and bulk buyers.

What to check when buying garri

• Dryness: garri should be dry and free-flowing with no damp lumps.
• Smell: a clean, slightly sour cassava smell is normal; a musty smell is a warning sign.
• Texture: ask for the grain size that suits you. Fine grains swell quickly, while larger grains hold their shape better for drinking.
• Type: garri is commonly sold as white or yellow, so ask which types are currently available.
• Packaging: sealed, undamaged bags protect garri from moisture and pests.

Storing garri

Keep garri in an airtight container or its sealed bag, in a cool, dry place. Moisture makes it clump, go musty and attract weevils. Always scoop with a dry utensil, and reseal the pack after each use.
